VMhosts now offer a backup solution utilising VMware’s Change Block Tracking.
This technology allows VMhosts to take regular backups with no interruption to your services.

Virtual machines are backed up to our dedicated backup server. All backup images
are stored on dedicated storage, separate to our customer virtual machine live virtual disks.

Don’t be confused with other backup offerings where providers simply take snapshots of
your virtual machines. These snapshots are usually stored on the same storage and
wouldn’t offer you any protection in the event of storage failure.

VM’s are backed up every 4 hours with 14 days retention. That’s a total of 84 restore points.
Local backups are then synchronised to a remote site for geographical protection.

Many other providers offer backups but we have gone a step further. Backups are only as good
as Disaster Recover tests. That’s why we offer an annual test restore for each and every VM
we backup.

VM’s are restored to one of our physical hosts on an isolated network where you can access
your Virtual Machine at the console and confirm that your data is consistent **.

We allow a full 7 days of access to your DR machine providing plenty of time for you to check your data consistency. Test DR Restore schedules are flexible to meet your requirements but please allow a window of 7 days to meet your request.

Additional DR tests can be performed. These are charged at £10 per restore of each VM.

Customers who add our Backup package to their service will also have the ability to
request restoration of individual files and folders, providing the full path of the file is provided.

Files are copied to our secure ftp server where they can be retrieved at your convenience.
Restore requests for individual files/folders are charged at £5 per request. Each request can include an unlimited number of files and folders.
