Q: How long will it take to setup my VM?
A: We aim to have your virtual machine up and running within 24 hours. CentOS V5 will be installed by default but you may reload your operating system with any supported linux and windows distrubutions. Complete instructions will be sent via email on how to connect to your console.

Q: Is 256mb really enough memory?
A: We took the decision to virtualise our free email service www.aqualityplace.co.uk. aQualityPlace is built on the Atmail V5 mail server and runs Apache, Exim, Spamassasin, MySQL, Clam AV services, installed on a Linux distribution. The mail server hosts over 300 mailboxes and handles thousands of email each day. The average memory usage of this server on a typical day is only 92mb and only 150mhz of CPU.

We will monitor the guest memory usage of your VM, if it requires more ememory then you still have the option to add more.
Q: Can I install any Operating System?
A: We recommend only installing VMware supported operating systems. You may install other operating systems at your own risk.
Q: What Applications can I run?
A: You can run just about any applications you like on your operating system. Your server must not be used to host any illegal content, or used for unlawful activities.
Q: Can I upgrade my VM at a later date?
A: Yes you can, if you need a bit more memory hardisk space or an additional CPU then please contact us we will add the addidional hardware and adjust your contract. With NO admin fee.
Q: How can I connect to my Virtual Machine?
A: We offer full remote access right down to the bios level. Using the remote console you will be able to trouble shoot any start-up problems. Once your operating system is up and running you will be able to use normal remote tools such as RDP and SSH.
Q: The remote console seems slow.
A: This is normal, the remote console should only be used during setup and troubleshooting. We recommend using remote access protocols such as RDP & SSH.
Q: How do I attach remote media to my VM?
A: We will mount any Operating System ISO image you provide us with. If we don't already have it you can either upload it to our FTP server or provide a URL for us to download.
Q: How long is the contract period?
A: We run a 1 month contract period which can be cancelled at anytime within the first 14 days with a full refund. There after you must give 1 months notice if you wish to cancel.
Q: What support do you offer?
A: Currently we only offer email support on our services, during office hours. As our business customer.lops we hope to offer increased support offerings. We don't offer any official support on your operating system, unless the problem is caused by the virtualisation. Of course if we can help we will.
Q: Do I need Raid?
A: All of our VM disks are installed on Raid arrays to offer hardware resilience.
Q: How do I backup my virtual machine?
A: We recommend backing up your virtual machine. This can be done by uploading backup files to an offsite FTP server. We plan to offer an automatic backup service in the near future which will be transparent to the running of your VM.
Q: Snapshots?
A: Using VMware ESX we can take snapshots of your virtual machine. This is handy if your installing a service pack or running an upgrade and you require a rollback option. This is a free service we just ask you to provide us with 48 hours notice. Under normal circumstances we only recommend running snapshots for 24 hour periods. After this period we will apply the snapshot to your VM with no downtime. If there is a problem with your Service Pack/Upgrade we can roll back the changes.
Q: Do you offer a reboot service?
A: As your machine is virtual you can login to the console and perform any power operations remotely at any time of day.
Q: Can I have more than one VM?
A: Yes! And we can configure them in different ways. You may need an external facing VM acting as a firewall and an internal VM on its own switch using an internal address range. Please email any configuration requests with a network diagram to us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Q: How do I know how much bandwidth im using?
A: In the unlikely event that you exceed your monthly bandwidth limit, addiditional bandwidth can purchased at £2 per 100GB. We monitor all bandwidth and traffic usage on our network. If we feel you are going to exceed your monthly bandwidth usage we will contact you with a full report. If your application requires more bandwidth please contact us to arrange an increased limit.
