BGB Engineering

Secure and reliable hosting

BGB is an international engineering company with its roots and head offices in the UK.

BGB specialises in the design from concept, manufacturing and marketing its own range of niche market engineering solutions, providing engineering solutions since 1976.

BGB-Innovation-logoDeveloping, designing and manufacturing total engineering solutions for service companies, distributors and OEMs, BGB is a highly ethical company which places great emphasis on its company behaviours.

Its stated goal is “To connect, inspire and work closely together so that we are proud of our achievements, community and shared success.

The Requirement:

BGB was initially looking for hosting services. The company needed a partner to provide, secure, fast, high-capacity cloud computing and data storage. BGB also wanted to work with a company that was approachable, which shared BGB’s behavioural values of working together, being eager to help, to empathise, to provide personalised services, to be accountable and to work for the benefit of the team and the customer.

In September 2020, BGB found its ideal business partner in VMhosts. From the outset, BGB and VMhosts formed a strong and trusting working relationship, rapidly expanding the scope of the original requirement to include managed services and hardware supply.

The Solution:

The BGB solution covers the UK and US; originally the UK network was based over two sites and comprised fibre switches, HPE GL360 Hyper V Hosts and HPE StoreVirtual 4330 Clustered SAN units. The US network in Virginia comprised fibre switches, HP DL380 servers and Barracuda 290 back-up servers. BGB is now migrating its infrastructure to the VMhosts hosted environment. Users have reported significant reductions in latency since the migration has begun.

VMhosts also worked with external electrical contractors to expand wi-fi internet access across the UK sites.

Along with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), VMhosts also provides Redstor backup for Office 365, Datto RMM updates and Zerto Disaster Recovery.

VMhosts is able to cover support for both the UK and US within ordinary UK business hours. Anything running on the hosted platform is supported 24/7 as standard for any system down events. For lower priority events, the time difference and US hours fall within the service level agreement and VMhosts therefore provides a very cost-effective support solution with no degradation to service.

VMhosts now provides BGB with fully Managed Services, acting as BGB’s IT team. BGB is now moving to VMhosts to provide its office IT equipment. The growth from hosting provider to a fully integrated partner and supplier has been rapid but organic, with every step a logical extension based upon BGB’s requirements and VMhosts expert capabilities.

BGB has reported a huge increase in reliability and satisfaction since moving to VMhosts. Far from being simply a provider of hosting services, VMhosts operates as part of the BGB team. A comment from Reuben Hall-Smith, BGB’s IT manager was “we forget that VMhosts has other customers – you feel like part of the team!”

  • High reliability and availability: BGB is able to deliver its services with maximum uptime and improved speed performance.
  • Deep integration: VMhosts operates as part of the team, providing rapid, personalised service and transparent costs.
  • Peace of Mind: VMhosts provides a complete solution, including full Disaster Recovery and is always on hand to manage any issues.
  • Cost Effective: VMhosts provides full support to the UK and US without the need for extended support agreements.
  • Extraordinary customer support: Backed and supported by our virtualisation engineers as an extension to BGB’s in-house IT support team.
