Raiders of the Lost File: Windows 11’s File Explorer
At VMhosts, we’re always looking for ways to improve how technology is used, to make it more user friendly and to make people more efficient. This latest Windows update is no exception!”
The File Explorer in Windows 11 is set to be the biggest update since Windows 8, and we’re thrilled to give you a sneak peek at what’s in store.
One of the standout features of the new File Explorer is the improved search functionality. We know that finding the right file can be a hassle, especially when you have a lot of documents and folders to sift through. Microsoft have made it easier than ever to search for files using natural language queries. Simply type in a phrase like “show me all photos from last week” and File Explorer will do the rest.
They’ve also added some new options for customising the way you view files. You can now choose from a range of different layouts, including a list view, a grid view, and a thumbnail view. Plus, it’ll be easier to see important file information like file size and date modified, so you can find what you need faster.
Another exciting new feature in the updated File Explorer is the ability to preview files without opening them. Now, when you hover over a file, you’ll see a preview of its contents, so you can quickly decide if it’s the one you’re looking for. This is especially handy for image files, where you can now see a preview of the image without having to open it in a separate program.
We’re really pleased with the change to make it easier to access your most-used files and folders. The new Quick Access panel lets you pin your favourite files and folders to the top of the File Explorer window, so you can easily access them whenever you need to.
Finally, some improvements to the way you can manage files. You can now select multiple files at once using checkboxes, and perform actions on groups of files, like deleting or moving them all at once. Plus, Microsoft have added some new context menu options, so you can quickly perform common tasks like copying and pasting files.
We are really excited about the improvements made to the File Explorer in Windows 11, and we think you will be too. We can’t wait to try it out!
